Remember the sitcom Alice from 1976? A few years back, okay, more like many years back when I had little ones, my sister brought the Alice Theme to my attention and said that it reminded her of me. I thought it did too. So much so that I had to incorporate it into my website lol. The lyrics kind of hit home. Well, not so much the ‘early to rise, early to bed’; I wasn’t getting that much sleep at all trying to get one child with complicated health issues diagnosed and a baby in the house. But the ‘in and between I cooked and cleaned and went out of my head’ sure did. I kept very busy with cooking, cleaning and laundry with four children. And I about went out of my head being home alone with the kids each week while husband was away for work and only home on the weekends for about eighteen months. Here are the lyrics.
There’s a New Girl in Town Lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman & David Shires
Early to rise, early to bed.
In and between I cooked and cleaned and went out of my head.
Going through life with blinders on, it’s tough to see.
I had to get up, get out from under and look for me.
There’s a new girl in town and she’s looking good.
There’s a fresh freckled face, in the neighborhood.
There’s a new girl in town, with a brand new style.
She was just passing through,
but if things work out she’s gonna stay awhile….ba ba bum bum bummmm
