Summer Reading Book Reviews – June 2016

Duck at the Door by Jackie Urbanovic—An enjoyable read. Story covers a year from winter to winter. Funny story, Ashton was laughing the whole time. About a family of one human parent and many animals accepting a visitor. Very family like tolerating and missing each other.

Tell Me What To Dream About by Giselle Potter—This book was hilarious and so totally Emma. Little sister asks what to dream about and finds problems with every suggestion big sister gives her.

Birds by Kevin Henkes—This was my least favorite of the six but still a good book for a bird or seasons theme.

city dog, country frog by Mo Willems—This book caught my eye, I thought it might be a take on country mouse, city mouse from my childhood. Not quite. A sweet story, a bit predictable, had me worried where it was heading but ended on a happy note.

Horsefly and Honeybee by Randy Cecil

I Am Yoga by Susan Verde—Nice easy read. Would be good for winding down for quiet, nap or bed time. Good introduction to yoga for children or adults. Enjoyable artwork, colorful watercolors. Will check out again.
